Head to the Park!
Despite being a bustling city, Charlotte also has several stunning public parks. Freedom Park, Romare Bearden Park, Independence Park are just a few of the wonderful places you can visit this summer while still staying in the city! We suggest taking a leisurely stroll and enjoying the summer breeze, or pack up a picnic and gaze upon the skyline at any of these beautiful locations.
Make a Splash in Lake Wylie!
This lovely lake town just south of the city offers plenty to do: spend the day floating down the Catawba River, rent a boat to cool down in the lake, or test out your paddle boarding skills! While you’re there, be sure to grab a bite at one of their many yummy restaurants such as Papa Docs Shore Club, Copper Premium Pub, or Drift on Lake Wylie while you’re there.
Visit The U.S. National Whitewater Center
You can’t go wrong with a trip to the U.S. National Whitewater Center (UNWWC), located about 30 minutes from the city’s center. Offering activities such kayaking, ziplining, and all things outdoorsy, you’re bound to have a fun filled day that gets you moving! Take a Lakeside Hike
As its name suggests, the Lake Norman area is famous for its stunning lake community, but did you know there are also plenty of hiking and nature trails to explore as well? If you’re looking for the ultimate outdoor experience, take a trip to Latta Nature Preserve, located in Huntersville. With 16 miles of outdoor space for everything ranging from hiking trails, picnic spots, horseback riding areas, and water access for kayaking and fishing , there’s sure to be something for everyone!
If your goal is to cool off, visit Ramsey Creek Park. This park features a lakeside beach, boating areas, nature trails, and more- a perfect location for those hot summer days!
Whether you want to stay close to the city or you’re up for a quick drive, one thing is for sure- no matter where you’re at in Charlotte this summer, there is never a shortage of things to do outside. There is no doubt that we are lucky to live in such a beautiful city, with equally beautiful weather.
